Music

OK, so we just watched an episode of Mad Men, which I love, and it ended with Peter Paul and Mary's version of Early In The Morning...and I caught myself singing along. Here's the problem. I love me some hippie music.  And some old blues.  Not to mention all the Requiems, Passions and choral classical in my collection. And there's a lot of God in them there lyrics...

Do athiests/agnostics have ANY good music???

  1. Same thing here. I love Cat Stevens songs, and the song Let There Be Peace On Earth. I just change up the words here and there. It's kind of like Rockabye Baby... who let's their baby fall out of a damn tree? The stuff we were raised on...can't get rid of it...but we can try to evolve it (by changing the words when we sing them to our kids).

  2. Funny you should mention children's songs. Went to a sing-along class today and they used different words to Ring Around the Rosie, they sang something different instead of Ashes Ashes, which, if I'm not mistaken, refers to the Black Plague...anyway, I was so surprised by the different words that I now can't remember them!

  3. There are a lot of songs, especially older ones, before the invention of Christian Rock, that have a lot of religious undertones. Especially in any country music!

  4. Right...but I'm looking for songs WITHOUT religious undertones ;) Thanks, though, Mama D!
